OUR PROJECT
The Senior Thin Film Process Engineer will contribute to the development and manufacturing of advanced optical components using technologies such as Ion Beam Sputtering and Evaporative coating. This project involves working closely with program management, configuration management, and engineering teams to implement new products and optimize thin film processes for production readiness. The engineer will also play a key role in troubleshooting, process documentation, and technician training, ensuring robust and repeatable production of thin film optical coatings for both internal and external customers.
This is a long-term contract that will require being onsite at the Boulder, CO facility. You can expect very competitive pay.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Senior Thin Film Process Engineer with strong expertise in optical coatings and a proven ability to transition processes from R&D to production. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Ion Beam Sputtering and Evaporative coating technologies, a strong background in optical thin film design, and familiarity with vacuum technology and structured problem-solving tools. You are someone who can collaborate across multiple teams, train and mentor technicians, and proactively solve technical and quality challenges in a production environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in optical thin-film coating design using Macleod or OptiLayer.
• Practical experience with vacuum technology and statistical process control (SPC).
• Skilled in structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D and DMAIC.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance.
