Lockheed Martin seeks a talented Chief Engineer to join the team in Huntsville, Alabama. The Long Range Hypersonic Weapon Platform Chief Engineer leads the design and development of the prototype operational Platform system on an accelerated schedule to deliver the U.S. Army's critical national need for a hypersonic ground system capability. As the primary technical authority for the Army Platform development, this leader ensures LM technical design integrity through all development phases, balances schedule demands without sacrificing technical rigor by developing technical risk assessments and mitigation approaches to deliver essential capability. This leader delivers these outcomes through Full Spectrum Leadership values by investing in the development of the team and providing technical and leadership oversight, mentoring and coaching. The successful leader:
• Defines and owns the technical baseline for the Army Platform system
• Ensures Army Platform readiness for Flight Tests and integration with the Army Launcher platform
• Adjudicates technical conflicts between & within the Army Platform Systems Element
• Engages in architecture definition and trades
• Coordinates overall architecture and system performance including technical performance measurements and risk assessments
• Leads the definition of technology development roadmaps and insertion
• Ensures selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability
• Leads special assignment projects to address and drive closure on key program technical concerns
• Ensures program plans and technical baselines are consistent with Program Control processes and Modern Engineering Practices
• Ensures identification of lessons learned, and corrective action are initiated and implemented to improve future and ongoing programs

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Significant technical experience with demonstrated expertise in systems integration, engineering, and/or test of complex systems
• Proven team leadership experience in systems design and development
• Familiarity with government customers and programs
• Active Interim Secret clearance required for this role with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to certain citizenship requirements.
Desired Skills:
• Master's degree in Science or Engineering preferred
• Experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to proactively translate into action and results
• Experience in Army platform integration, reentry, missile, or hypersonic systems
• Experience in key technologies or applicable skills: Thermal; Materials; Propulsion; Flight Computers; Communications; Power
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex technical issues/challenges
• Demonstrated customer orientation by learning and understanding customers' missions, needs, and perspectives
• Experience in a development and test environment
• Excellent communication skills, with experience addressing executive leadership and external customers

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
