Duties
Help
  • Provide comprehensive patient care support to orthopedic providers throughout the clinical process.
  • Manage patient check-in procedures, prepare patients for examinations, and accurately obtain and record vital signs.
  • Perform routine clinical tasks including the removal of dressings and casts.
  • Assist providers during in-office procedures such as the application of splints and braces.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and surgical procedures for a team of orthopedic providers.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic reverification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Six months of general experience which includes (1) any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with performing a variety of medical and clerical support duties which facilitate the work of the Physicians and Nurses, AND six months of specialized experience which includes, performing initial screening of patients, recording vital signs and initial patient complaint and preparing patients for exams/procedures.

EDUCATION:
Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, Nursing, Medical Terminology, Health and Medical Sciences, Medical Assisting, Health Information Technology, Phlebotomy.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
