Duties

As an POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-8, you will:
  • Perform Combat Arms Training
  • Perform and enforce the full range of security forces duties within the military installation
  • Monitor the environment for noise hazards, health problems, and all other safety hazards
  • Evaluate accidents to determine cause and ensure safety guidelines are followed and necessary precautions are taken

Military Grades: E-4 to E-7

THIS IS AN INDEFINITE POSITION: This position lasts for an unknown or unstated length of time and is not Permanent.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Additional Requirements:
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have the following experience(s):
  • Understanding of the basic principles and concepts of military security forces functions, laws, policies, regulations, rules, procedures, and methods
  • Performing functions such as weapon systems and resource security, air base defense, law enforcement
  • Handling military working dog functions or combat arms functions
Specialized Experience:
Must have 12 months of the following experience(s):
  • Securing crime and incident scenes
  • Apprehending and detaining suspects
  • Conducting interviews of witnesses and suspects and obtains statements and testifies in official judicial proceedings.
  • Responding to disaster and relief operations and participates in contingencies.
  • Implementing ground weapons training programs.
  • Controlling and safeguarding of arms, ammunition, and equipment; and, instructs ground weapons qualification training.
  • Providing guidance on weapons placement to security forces and ground defense force commanders.
  • Firing weapons for accuracy and serviceability.
  • Presenting courses on training material and instruction
