Duties
As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-12, you will ensure proper usage and security of Air National Guard (ANG) computer networks, and will provide guidance through planning, coordinating, and directing all network functional areas. Work involves planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. This position is responsible for evaluating, testing and troubleshooting the various platforms and their associated operating systems and applications, both existing and proposed, that comprise the ANG enterprise. Serves as standardization/evaluation evaluator.. Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERINECE: Must have experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (or equivalent. Must have the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This includes: Comprehensive knowledge of advanced Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to evaluate, test and troubleshoot the components of a highly evolved IT enterprise network. Comprehensive knowledge of various network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, concentrators, boundary protection devices (Firewall), messaging platforms and print services sufficient to configure, test, evaluate and troubleshoot unique network problems. Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and applications software sufficient to analyze requests for new and modified applications, define requirements and provide technical guidance. Extensive knowledge of and skill in applying modeling and simulation tools and techniques sufficient to evaluate, test and baseline existing and proposed equipment and software for compliance with Air National Guard enterprise requirements.
"Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."
Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.

- The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
