Job Description

Working as a Master Program Planner at BAE Space and Mission Systems (SMS) is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-tech team of people developing innovative products for the Aerospace and Defense industry. You will be responsible for developing a multi-year plan that the team must follow to produce the customer deliverable. You will coordinate the schedule across all the work centers and incorporate the work into the Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). You will maintain the schedule on a weekly basis. This position will work from our beautiful Colorado location.

A Master Program Planner Principal applies extensive expertise and has full knowledge of related disciplines. Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. May function in a project leadership role. Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to policies, plans and objectives. May interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.

What You'll Do:
  • Review the program contract, statement of work and flow-down requirements and develop a plan to meet the requirements. Communicate plan to program team.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the program baseline to meet the internal and external requirements.
  • Provide the program with primary and secondary critical path analysis, variance to baseline analysis, and look-ahead reporting.
  • Provide and use knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and Schedule/Cost control.
  • Lead the schedule effort for the Integrated Baseline Review (IBR).
  • Participate as the scheduling subject matter expert for a portfolio of programs.
  • Help technical experts establish milestones and provide support to monitor adherence to the IMS by identifying programmatic problems and providing recommended solutions.
  • Recommend and lead scheduling best practices and process improvements on program.
  • Work with the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) to determine the strategic objectives for the program. Align programs and operations to the objectives.
  • Support the Program Management Office to achieve or exceed business objectives.
  • Support development of programmatic opportunities/risks and their mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and issue all customer and management schedule reporting. Present schedule data as required.
  • Work with the Control Account Managers (CAM) and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to determine resource needs to support the work.
  • Work with CAMs to ensure schedule updates are entered into the IMS as provided.
  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in schedules.
  • Maintain the schedule baseline per formal change control process as necessary.
  • Recovery schedule development and implementation as deemed necessary.
  • Perform what-if type scenarios for the schedules as issues arise; i.e. analyze funding constraints and program impacts.
  • Support new business proposals with development of proposal schedules
  • Work with PM, CAM, Responsible Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure scheduled work for Programs is being communicated effectively.
  • Work with the material planning group to understand program material and subcontractor requirements that are integrated into the Program schedule.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS/BA plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience in utilizing business principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting, coordinating group initiatives to bring a project to completion.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Experience using MS Project and Excel, along with other MS Office Products.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $99410 - $168997

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
