Job Title: Senior Java Developer (Remote)
Location: 100% Remote
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)
Clearance: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder; able to obtain Public Trust (Active or prior Public Trust preferred)
About the Role
TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to support a major Federal Agency in a large-scale AWS Cloud migration initiative. This role involves modernizing legacy systems, breaking down monolithic applications, and building scalable microservices using cutting-edge technologies. You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy secure, high-performance solutions that enhance operational effectiveness for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level applications using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS
• Refactor legacy applications and migrate workloads to AWS Cloud
• Implement serverless functions (Lambda) and microservices architecture
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with messaging services (SQS/SNS)
• Automate CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable deployments
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to technical documentation
Required Skills & Experience
• 14+ years of full-stack development experience (or 7+ years with a Master’s degree)
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful services
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of Cloud Migration strategies and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Nexus) and automation frameworks
• Active AWS certification required; Java certification is a plus
Nice to Have
• Experience with Agile/DevSecOps practices
• Prior Public Trust or DoD clearance
