Volt is immediately hiring for Systems Administrator–in Pascagoula, Mississippi 39567

As a Systems Administrator Your responsibilities will include:
• Client seeking a skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our team supporting their Radars team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT systems that support this critical radar technology. This role requires expertise in networking, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and troubleshooting, as well as a strong commitment to ensuring system security and availability. This position also requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time to support mission-critical operations.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain systems supporting the Air and Missile Defense Radar family, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Perform system troubleshooting and resolve hardware, software, and network issues as they arise.
• Conduct regular system monitoring, patch management, and performance tuning.
• Maintain and configure Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and troubleshoot radar system components.
• Implement and maintain system security measures in accordance with DoD standards and protocols.
• Support network configurations, including IP address management, VLAN configurations, and Layer 3 Switches management.
• Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
• Travel up to 25% of the time to domestic locations to support system installations, maintenance, and operational needs.

This is a 6-month, Full- time- Contract with possible extension opportunity.

Ideal candidate must have:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in system administration and networking support.
• Active Top-Secret Clearance is required.
• IAT Level I Certification or Higher (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, Security+, etc.)
• Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, routing protocols, and troubleshooting (e.g., OSPF, BGP, DNS, VLANs).
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex system and network issues.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) or military environment.
• Familiarity with radar systems or other defense-related technologies.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
• Experience with configuring and managing firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Experience with PowerShell, Bash and/or Python scripting
• Familiarity with version control and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, ClearCase)

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.


Pay Range: $60.00 - $ 65.00 per hour.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
