Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Electronics Engineer - Level 5 to join our team in Gilbert, AZ.

This role requires a solid foundation and understanding of testing in the IT&L environment. This position will require occasionally working shift work and overtime. Additionally, the nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working full time in a classified development environment; cell phones or personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Understand and apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in the development and execution of space craft integration and test.
  • Understands NG test engineering practices and principles and consistently lead process improvement forums for improving test safety and efficiency
  • Intimate knowledge of both electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), the relationship and functionality of all subsystems with the EGSE, and the full Integration and Test (I&T) build process including how mechanical I&T efforts, IMS planning, and CAM accounts contribute to the readiness of electrical test.
  • Supports EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts in a lead position of a product-line or SME position.
  • Able to work independently to complete tasks that often do not have heritage solutions to rely on. Able to develop test plans that forecast required work, resources, and equipment per a strict program IMS.
  • Fully grasps escalation plan when test errors are encountered and understands when to proceed per NG/program process. Consistently asked to participate in multi-discipline, multi-site anomaly resolution process, and may be called to support FRBs for programs across the site.
  • Travel and support off-nominal shifts when required and is consistently sought to help regain schedule for critical program milestones
  • Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
  • Leads anomaly process as a SME with subsystem Cognizant Engineer (CogE) and helps develop corrective actions for programs and sector issues
  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives
  • Assignments are often self-initiated
  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results
  • Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior
  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product
  • Decisions or recommendations would typically be critical to meet organizational objectives and critical to program success (single point failure)
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs
  • Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications
  • Coordinates efforts for all ITEEs assigned to a productline and potentially across multiple programs. Participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FRBs, etc) or mentor other ITEEs on it. Often brought in as a SME for customer facing meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 10 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 8 years of professional experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns
  • Experience with Electrical Power Subsystem or Telemetry, Tracking & Commanding Subsystem


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previously acted in a Product-line Lead Electrical role
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SSBI and/or Active SCI
  • Electrical Integration & Test team experience
  • Ability to operate in a large Integration and Test environment with multiple disciplines
  • Ability to function as a member of a large team
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, RF Test Equipment, RF and DC cables
  • Experience with other subsystems: Attitude Control, Comm Payload, Mission Payload, Command & Data Handling
  • Experience with designing, certifying and troubleshooting Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) associated with various space craft subsystems and whole system concepts
  • Experience troubleshooting anomalous hardware and software
  • Experience in test script development
  • Basic Programming Skills in one or more of these areas: Python, C, Matlab, Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Flatsat experience (bonus)

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
