Cloud Security Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to support the protection and modernization of U.S. Air Force network infrastructure and mission-critical cloud services. This position is on-site at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The Cloud Security Engineer will design, implement, and enforce secure cloud architectures while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense security frameworks in a modernized cloud environment.

Responsibilities for the Cloud Security Engineer include:

• Implementing and maintaining Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) controls, including Virtual Data Center Security Stack (VDSS) and Boundary Cloud Access Point (BCAP)
• Ensuring cloud environments comply with DoD security requirements such as NIST 800-53, STIGs, and FedRAMP+ through continuous monitoring and assessment
• Configuring and managing identity, access, logging, alerting, and monitoring controls using native CSP tools and platforms such as ELK and SolarWinds
• Supporting cloud onboarding and migration efforts while enforcing Zero Trust principles and security best practices
• Preparing and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation, including inherited control mapping and eMASS contributions, while mentoring junior security team members

Required Qualifications for the Cloud Security Engineer include:

• 7+ years of experience securing cloud environments within AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Hands-on experience with cloud security controls, Secure Cloud architectures, automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell), and incident response processes
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills within complex cloud environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
• Active Secret Clearance

Compensation for the Cloud Security Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $128,000 - $138,000 depending on experience
