Barbaricum is a rapidly growing government contractor providing innovative technology and engineering solutions to Defense and National Security customers. Our teams support mission-critical programs by delivering scalable, secure, and resilient systems that enable operational success.

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to provide senior technical leadership in support of Naval Special Warfare Command. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with program execution and coordination responsibilities, requiring close collaboration with Government stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams.

The Role:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for defining and executing the engineering vision and roadmap in alignment with Naval Special Warfare mission objectives. You will lead engineering activities from design through deployment, ensure delivery of high-quality solutions, and provide senior-level technical guidance to address complex engineering challenges.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to operate effectively within Agile environments supporting high-visibility mission systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Government stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to define, communicate, and execute the engineering roadmap and technical vision
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership and hands-on support to resolve complex engineering challenges
  • Oversee day-to-day execution of engineering initiatives, managing efforts from inception through delivery
  • Contribute to the design, evolution, and review of system architectures, capacity planning strategies, and tooling approaches
  • Lead and facilitate technical architecture discussions and engineering decision-making forums
  • Develop, maintain, and review technical documentation, architecture artifacts, and engineering deliverables
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to developer platforms, infrastructure, and tooling


Required Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership or management role within Scrum or Agile environments
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize engineering teams and improve delivery performance
  • Experience with systems engineering, networking, and troubleshooting complex technical environments
  • Proficiency in code review processes and engineering quality assurance practices
  • Experience with modern developer toolchains, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure and software deployment activities, including build, validation, release, and operational support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong technical writing skills
