Overview
VTG is seeking a Project Specialist located in Charleston, South Carolina.
What will you do?
This is a hybrid role responsible for supporting end-to-end acquisition execution while also performing hands-on supply chain, logistics, and inventory management functions. This position is intentionally structured as a split role, with approximately 50% of time dedicated to procurement project coordination and compliance activities and 50% dedicated to supply, logistics, and material execution. The role ensures that materials and services are procured, received, tracked, and distributed in alignment with program schedules, cost objectives, and regulatory requirements, including FAR/DFARS and CPSR standards. Acting as a key operational link between Material Management, Procurement, and Program teams, the position supports audit-ready documentation, real-time material visibility, and timely execution across the acquisition lifecycle.

- Supports planning and execution of procurement actions aligned to program schedules, IMS milestones, and financial baselines.
- Forecasts and tracks acquisition activities from requisition through delivery and closeout.
- Develops and maintains CPSR-compliant procurement files, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
- Consolidates supplier quotes, performs BOM and requirements analysis, and supports "or-equal" justifications.
- Coordinates supplier commitments and monitors performance, escalating schedule, cost, or quality risks as appropriate.
- Provides procurement status updates for program reviews, internal dashboards, EVM inputs, and customer deliverables.
- Assists with demand planning and acquisition forecasting in coordination with program and procurement teams.
- Supports closeout activities including invoice reconciliation, release of claims, and file archiving.
- Provides acquisition data inputs for audits, compliance reviews, and financial reporting.
- Performs supply chain functions to ensure inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment are accurate, adequate, and aligned with operational requirements.
- Procures materials and services via purchase orders and authorized credit card usage, including soliciting and analyzing quotes, negotiating with vendors, placing orders, and maintaining required documentation.
- Develops specifications and estimates from drawings, spreadsheets, and technical documentation; prepares master requirements lists for materials, fabrication, and services.
- Coordinates with project managers, cost estimators, and internal stakeholders to identify product needs and support acquisition and distribution solutions.
- Maintains real-time records of material status including items on order, received, stored, issued, or in transit.
- Receives, inspects, counts, and verifies incoming materials against packing slips and invoices; documents discrepancies or damage per company procedures.
- Processes material receipts and issues in the inventory management system.
- Stores, issues, packages, marks, and prepares materials for shipment or distribution.
- Conducts inventory counts, reconciliations, and adjustment reporting.
- Determines appropriate storage methods considering material characteristics, safety, and environmental conditions.
- Operates material handling equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts (license required or obtained upon assignment).
Do you have what it takes?
- High school diploma or GED with three (3) years of related experience; or
- Associate degree with one (1) year of related experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Program Management, or a related field; or
- A combination of education and relevant work experience sufficient to perform the role.
