Title: Virtualization Engineer
Location: Radford, VA
Must have an Active Secret Clearance
Required Skills:
Senior-level experience with the VMware suite of products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation).
Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack – network, storage, server, and applications.
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
Hands-on experience with container platforms and container orchestration.
Understanding of Kubernetes networking (CNI) and storage (CSI) principles.
Experience with managing Kubernetes applications using Helm charts and maintaining container images in a registry.
Experience with GitOps principles and tools (e.g., Argo CD, Flux).
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the AECC architecture.
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the VMware suite of products in the AECC.
As applications are hosted on the AECC solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer enclaves.
Provide daily administration of the VMware products to include patching and upgrading of all VMware components.
Monitor utilization of all virtualization resources and notify the AECC lead when additional resources will be required.
Harden the VMware products per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents." Expected
Deliverables:
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hosting platform issues.
Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related field.
