Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a specialized focus on
automated patching, vulnerability analysis, and security update remediation within AWS Cloud
environments. This role supports the development of an automated security findings pipeline to enable
scalable CVE response and hardening.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in building security automation pipelines using Ansible
and Python, with deep familiarity in working with WIZ and Nessus findings, automated patch workflows,
and CVE remediation in AWS production environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to design, test, and implement cybersecurity software solutions
• Support the development and sustainment of an automated vulnerability management and
remediation pipeline
• Oversee and maintain production systems in AWS Cloud, ensuring secure and reliable operations
• Automate patching and security updates using Ansible, Python, and AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager
• Perform analysis of CVE data and automate remediation actions across Linux, Windows, and
container environments
• Manage and report on WIZ and Nessus vulnerability findings, and implement automated resolution
workflows
• Support real-time security finding triage, risk assessment, and countermeasure implementation
• Execute system update automation including AWS CLI, Python pip/local packages, venv, Yum, and
Windows updates
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Secret clearance (must be eligible for TS/SCI and DHS Suitability)
• 8+ years of relevant experience in software or infrastructure development
• 2+ years of experience in Agile full stack infrastructure engineering
• Strong proficiency in Python and pip for automation and scripting
• Hands-on experience in AWS Cloud environments supporting production workloads
• Demonstrated experience with AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager and Ansible
• Proven ability to analyze and remediate CVE vulnerabilities using automation
• Experience working with WIZ or Nessus to manage and resolve security findings
• Familiarity with system update workflows for Linux (Yum), Windows, Python packages, and virtual
environments
Desired Skills
• In-depth knowledge of security vulnerability automation techniques
• Experience with AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
Certifications
• DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, SSCP) (Required)
• CSSLP – Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (Preferred)
