Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, deployment,
and sustainment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities within production and development AWS Cloud
environments. This role plays a key part in supporting cybersecurity-focused Agile teams through
automation, cloud infrastructure management, and vulnerability remediation.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in full stack infrastructure engineering, Python-based
automation, and hands-on AWS cloud operations along with a deep understanding of modern DevSecOps
practices and production environment hardening.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and support advanced cybersecurity solutions within AWS-based production and
development environments
• Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to develop secure, scalable full stack infrastructure solutions
• Perform ongoing maintenance, patching, and configuration of Amazon EC2 instances and cloud
resources
• Use Ansible and scripting tools to automate patch management, configuration, and compliance tasks
• Conduct CVE analysis, develop automated remediation playbooks, and respond to security findings
• Assist in risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation countermeasures
• Monitor system performance and health using AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring platforms
• Create operational dashboards and security metrics using Elastic Kibana or Power BI
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Secret clearance (must be eligible for TS/SCI and DHS Suitability)
• 6+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering
• 2+ years supporting Agile teams as a full stack infrastructure engineer
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tooling
• Hands-on experience operating production workloads in AWS environments
• Experience with EC2 lifecycle management (build, patch, sustain)
• Familiarity with vulnerability management and remediation workflows
Desired Skills
• Experience with AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager
• Proficiency in Ansible for infrastructure automation and security updates
• Experience with Bash, AWK, SED, or similar tools for automation scripting
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats, Power BI, and AWS CloudWatch
• Experience analyzing and remediating CVE findings, WIZ, or Nessus results
• Knowledge of secure software lifecycle and DevSecOps best practices
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Certifications
• DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE) (Required)
• CSSLP – Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (Preferred)
