Job Description

We are looking for you to join our team join as a Manager Contract Administration 3 based out of San Diego, CA. This is a full-time onsite position that offers the 9/80 schedule.

What You Will Get To Do:

The Manager Contract Administration will support our Navigation, Intelligence and Connectivity (NIC) Division, Communications Solutions (CS) Business Unit (BU). As the leader of CS Contracts organization, the Manager 3 will provide oversight of all contracts and new business capture efforts within the BU portfolio.

The Manager 3 will lead a team of geographically disperse contract managers and professionals to deliver strong customer satisfaction, successful financial performance and risk mitigation while ensuring proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer requirements. They will serve as BU Manager, partnering with the BU leadership team to develop strategies for customer engagement, partnership and licensing arrangements, compliant proposals, profitable negotiations, and resolution of complex contracts issues.

The Manager 3 will provide objective-oriented direction utilizing management guidelines, general policies and maintain a strong level of engagement, while inspiring, motivating and developing a team of managers and professionals.

The Contract Manager's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Build strong customer intimacy and employee engagement to assist with growing and sustaining this important business area.
  • Work under general supervision while using sound judgment to develop creative solutions to both routine and complex contractual matters while ensuring business unit compliance with customer requirements and company policies,
  • Provide advice and counsel to senior leadership on contractual rights/obligations and interpretation of terms and conditions, as well as methods for change, risk assessment and mitigation, and cash management
  • Make decisions with speed, offer guidance and work collaboratively with a multitude of organizations ranging from technical, program, finance, supply chain, export and security.
  • Successfully manage multiple moderately complex contracts and review and approve contract documents for protection of the company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements and adherence to company policies
  • Responsible for the effective strategy, coordination, pricing, approval, submittal, and negotiation of complex proposals to achieve target profit goals as well as favorable terms and conditions.
  • Administer, extend, negotiate, and terminate standard and nonstandard contracts and agreements.
  • Serve as an example and mentor to direct reports, professionally lead and direct the daily activities of the contracts manager and professionals, and delegate work assignments; to ensure compliance, accuracy, and accomplish timely work assignment completion


Basic Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, or related field; and eight years of experience, or an MS Degree and six years of experience in contracts administration within an aerospace environment
  • Working knowledge of applicable government regulations, including the FAR and DFARS
  • Experience negotiating and administering various contract types of varying sizes and types of agreements with the DoD
  • Experience with proposal development and pricing, risk identification, contract negotiation, customer liaison, budgeting/cost control
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite of Applications
  • Experience managing people
  • The ability to travel domestically 25% of the time.
  • The abiity to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCMA certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,500.00 - $239,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
