Overview
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (F3009 2026-24412):
Bowhead seeks a Engineering Technician to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. The Engineering Technician indepedntly plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of a broad scope of complexity and serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering.

Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
- Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., heating system in an office building or new electronic componets such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment).
- Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques.
- Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.
- Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design.
- Uses untried and untested measurement techniques and improves the performance of the equipment. May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies.
- Plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation.
- Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electronics with a minimum of ten (10) to ten (15) fifteen years of relevant experience is required at a minimum
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Prior experience at NSWC Crane highly preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
