Job Description

The Contracts Life Cycle System Manager - Contract Writing System (Icertis / CLM) will provide strategic and operational leadership for BAE Systems' Icertis Contract Intelligence (ICI) platform across the SMS Contracts Strategic Capability Unit. This role will define system strategy, roadmap, governance, and adoption for a 90-person contracts organization supporting a highly regulated Aerospace & Defense environment. This position will be the senior product owner on behalf of the Vice President of SMS Contracts

You will act as the business owner and executive liaison for contracting technology - ensuring processes, workflows, templates, data controls, and integrations enable compliance, operational excellence, and mission-critical program execution. The ideal candidate is a senior contracts or procurement operations leader with deep A&D contracting experience (FAR/DFARS) and proven success managing enterprise CLM platforms.

The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.

What You'll Do:
  • Product Strategy & Ownership:
    • Serve as the enterprise Product Owner for the Icertis Contract Writing System.
    • Define and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and release strategy aligned to business priorities.
    • Partner directly with the VP of Contracts and executive leadership on system strategy.
    • Prioritize business value, compliance requirements, and operational efficiencies.
    • Establish governance, standards, and decision-making frameworks for system use.
  • System & Process Leadership:
    • Oversee configuration, workflows, templates, metadata, and clause libraries for:
    • Government contracts.
    • Subcontracts & supplier agreements.
    • SOWs, NDAs, MSAs.
    • Modifications & amendments.
    • Ensure processes comply with FAR/DFARS, ITAR, EAR, CPSR, cost/pricing, and internal policies.
    • Work closely with Procurement, Legal, Programs, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT.
  • Implementation, Enhancements & Architecture:
    • Lead Icertis enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and release cycles.
    • Translate business needs into product requirements, epics, and user stories.
    • Oversee vendor engagement and internal delivery partners.
    • Ensure alignment with ERP/Procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba).
    • Champion data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Business Operations & Change Leadership:
    • Drive user adoption and best-practice use across the 90-person Contracts organization.
    • Develop SOPs, training, governance guides, and role-based standards.
    • Lead change management and communication plans for new releases & policy updates.
    • Serve as escalation point for senior stakeholders.
  • Risk, Compliance & Controls:
    • Maintain controls supporting:
    • Internal audit & SOX.
    • CPSR readiness.
    • ITAR / DFARS compliance.
    • Contract retention and security policies.
    • Ensure role-based access, audit logs, and data handling controls are enforced.
    • Partner with Security and Compliance on risk assessments & remediation.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Develop dashboards and analytics for:
    • Cycle time & throughput.
    • Contract risk & obligations.
    • Compliance & audit metrics.
    • Backlog & forecast visibility.
    • Provide executive reporting for leadership reviews and audits.
  • Leadership Responsibilities:
    • May manage a small team or cross-functional working group supporting CLM strategy.
    • Mentor system champions and regional/business unit leads.
    • Influence senior leaders to drive adoption and standardization.
  • Success Measures:
    • Increased user adoption & satisfaction across Contracts.
    • Measurable reduction in contract cycle time.
    • CPSR / audit readiness with strong compliance controls.
    • High-quality, accurate contract data & metadata.
    • Strong executive confidence in system reporting.
    • Reliable roadmap delivery & system stability.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Short-Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Previous managerial/supervisory/leadership experience.
  • 12 years or more experience in Contracts, Legal Operations, Procurement, or Program Operations.
  • Significant experience in Aerospace & Defense contracting with working knowledge of FAR/DFARS.
  • Direct experience as Product Owner, System Owner, or Business Owner for Icertis or another CLM.
  • Solid understanding of government contracting lifecycle & compliance.
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise technology change initiatives.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Contracts, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering.
  • Experience supporting CPSR-auditable environments.
  • ERP & Procurement tech experience (SAP/Oracle/Coupa/Ariba/etc.).
  • Agile or Product certification (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, PMP).
  • Experience in classified or export-controlled environments.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135556 - $230444

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
