The Engineering Manager will support the design and implementation of a modern, integrated data, application, and AI/ML ecosystem. This role is central to establishing a scalable product-oriented engineering capability, integrating AI/ML solutions into current and future business processes, and enabling the operational use of AI-driven systems. This role combines hands-on technical contribution with team leadership, roadmap ownership, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver secure, compliant, and high-impact modernization outcomes.

Salary range starting at $180k

Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and evolution of a modern, integrated data, application, and AI/ML ecosystem.
  • Contribute to and lead technical architecture discussions, including system design, capacity planning, and tooling strategies.
  • Translate user and mission needs into scalable, compliant, and operational system designs.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in developer infrastructure, cloud platforms, and AI/ML enablement.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-impact solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define, communicate, and execute the engineering roadmap and technical vision, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Run the day-to-day execution of the engineering roadmap, overseeing projects from inception through deployment and sustainment.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when required to unblock teams or address critical challenges.
  • Optimize engineering team performance through process improvement, tooling, and effective resource allocation in a Scrum-based environment.
  • Establish repeatable and automated processes for data infrastructure, software deployment, testing, and system accreditation.
  • Develop and oversee automated test strategies to ensure system quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support the operational employment of AI-driven solutions across enterprise environments.
  • Ensure systems are built, validated, released, and operated in accordance with security, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical and project documentation.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences using written, visual, and verbal methods.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • 10+ years of Navy experience in an engineering management role
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a Scrum or Agile environment
  • Experience with systems engineering, networking, and troubleshooting
  • Strong proficiency in reviewing and guiding production-quality code
  • Experience with full developer toolchains, including: CI/CD technologies, Automation and deployment pipelines and Automated testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and deployment lifecycles (build, validate, release, operate)
  • Experience supporting secure, scalable, and compliant enterprise systems
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience producing architecture, design, and system documentation
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to visually present complex data and technical concepts
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business, engineering, analytics, and Government stakeholders
  • Motivated by optimizing engineering teams, processes, and delivery outcomes
  • Active Secret security clearance.
