Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Perform engineering analysis, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and vibration analysis, using FEA and CFD tools.
- Select appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances for mechanical designs.
- Develop and execute test plans and procedures to validate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during development, testing, and production phases.
- Collaborate effectively with electrical, software, and other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical systems.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for design processes and methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 4+ years experience. Associates degree with 6 years of additional experience or high school and 8 years of additional experience may be exchanged for a Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for design and documentation
- Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with environmental testing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810).
- Experience designing mechanical solutions for military, or other harsh environment applications.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and their implications for hardware design.
- Understanding of general machining processes and limitations
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a current/active DoD Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
