r. Network Engineer
Location: Reston, Virginia (On-site)

Role Overview
This position is for a Sr. Network Engineer to perform network design and engineering support services for a large-scale IT architecture. The role involves engineering, designing, and implementing LANs/WANs, overseeing servers, storage, and backup systems, and resolving complex network issues. The engineer will control network management activities, data flows, and firewall rules to ensure a stable and secure network environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform network design, engineering, and implementation for LANs/WANs, site-to-site VPNs, and point-to-point/multipoint connections.
Serve as a network systems engineer overseeing servers, storage, and backup systems.
Troubleshoot port security, VLAN issues, and network outages.
Build network topologies to deliver content from specific providers to users.
Provide engineering designs for installation, integration, testing, and maintenance of the network environment.
Prepare network engineering documentation, including requirements, conceptual planning, and system construction.
Investigate, evaluate, and propose new network systems and upgrades.
Perform network engineering studies to determine requirements for bandwidth, data throughput, and security.
Maintain technical manuals and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an applicable field is required. An additional four years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
Experience: Seven or more years of experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of firewalls. Candidates must have experience keying and upgrading software on Taclane crypto devices and understand the operation of network protocols and firewall packet/proxy filters.
Technical Skills: A valid Security+ certification is required, along with either a CCNA or CCNP certification. Candidates must be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) by the date of security indoctrination.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP Certification.
Experience with multi-level security domains.
Experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of TACLANE and other crypto devices.
Experience with networks containing multi-level security appliances.
