Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team supporting the Air Force Information Network (AFIN), a critical infrastructure portfolio for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) that ensures secure, high-speed digital communications across various Air Force and Space Force programs. The Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing, testing, and maintaining software systems that support real-time Command and Control (C2) operations at Active-Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard bases worldwide. This position will require collaboration with cross-functional teams to innovate and enhance software solutions that meet evolving operational needs.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Analyze software requirements to assess the feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints.
• Develop, research, and implement software solutions that integrate with existing hardware and software systems.
• Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate operational and performance requirements of overall systems.
• Formulate and design software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict outcomes and measure design consequences.
• Create and direct software testing procedures, programming, and documentation to ensure system reliability.
• Maintain and configure BMC Remedy AR System server and associated systems to support incident and change management functionalities.
• Support integration and testing of EITSM system upgrades and additional capabilities.
• Administer and maintain Oracle database Real-Time Application Cluster (RAC) and Grid Control to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address software maintenance issues and provide ongoing support.
• Perform regularly scheduled security and maintenance patching of software systems to maintain compliance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Desired Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• A minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably on Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
• Completion of F5 University Training Courses, including:
o Getting Started with BIG-IP: Part 1 - Administration
o Getting Started with BIG-IP: Part 2 - Application Delivery
o Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 1 - HA and Traffic Processing
o Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 2 - iRules and Accelerating Traffic
o Getting Started with BIG-IP DNS
Minimum Certification Requirements:
• Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II (DODM 8140)
Potentially Required Certification(s):
• Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent
• Linux+ Certification
• BMC Certified Administrator: BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.x and/or equivalent
Security Clearance
• Valid DoD Secret clearance is required. Additionally, NATO Secret and/or DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearances, favorably adjudicated for SCI eligibility, are required at certain locations.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.
