General Function:
  • The contractor must be capable of supporting a wide range of engineering disciplines without predefined education or experience constraints, relying on task-specific qualifications defined elsewhere in the contract.
  • The contractor must apply DoD, Air Force, and standard engineering and scientific principles to improve performance, sustainability, and effectiveness of current and future weapon systems.
  • The contractor must understand and apply MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness criteria and support system integrity programs, CSI management, and airworthiness certification processes.
  • The contractor must execute USAF airworthiness policies (AFPD 62-6 and related AFIs), including standardized processes and flight authorization issuance.
  • The contractor must translate user needs into system and weapon system requirements supporting design, development, testing, evaluation, and deployment.
  • The contractor must support requirements development, technology planning, and policy actions to enhance manufacturing, sustainment, remanufacturing, and demilitarization capabilities.
  • The contractor must perform technical and mission analyses, system concept development, trade studies, and rapid-response engineering support for critical issues.
  • The contractor must support system safety engineering, including mishap risk assessments, evaluation of safety proposals, and resolution of high-priority safety concerns.
  • The contractor must assist with material solution analyses, design reviews, and preparation of technical documentation and briefings within cost, schedule, and performance constraints.
  • The contractor must develop, review, and support a wide range of acquisition, engineering, safety, test, and sustainment documents across the system life cycle.
  • The contractor must collect and prepare technical inputs for milestone decisions, staff summary packages, and executive-level briefings.
  • The contractor must support and participate in program meetings, working groups, and technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and PMRs.
  • The contractor must analyze hardware and software deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and support integration and testing of solutions.
  • The contractor must evaluate OEM and subcontractor proposals, ECPs, change notices, DMSMS issues, risks, and cost/schedule impacts.
  • The contractor must assist with engineering cost estimates, schedules (IMP/IMS/SEDS), and provide advisory support during source selections.
  • The contractor must support OSS&E compliance through disciplined LCSE processes, SEP implementation, metrics tracking, and baseline maintenance.
  • The contractor must participate in AFSO21 and value stream mapping activities to improve engineering efficiency and best practices.
  • The contractor must support configuration, data, risk, and environmental management; design reviews; audits; and technical interface processes.
  • The contractor must provide specialized engineering support across disciplines including systems, avionics, electrical, software, manufacturing/QA, R&M, security, and integration engineering.
  • The contractor must ensure full system integration, airworthiness certification, safety, reliability, maintainability, cybersecurity, and lifecycle effectiveness across all weapon system phases.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
  • MA Degree and at least 10 years of experience in the related field, 5 of which must be with the DoD, OR, BA Degree and at least 12 years of experience related to the position requirements, 5 of which must be with the DoD, OR, 15 years of directly related experience, 8 of which must be with the DoD.
  • Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret level.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project).
  • Must be able to perform all functional duties independently.
  • Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
