Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in Chantilly, VA. This role operates within a secure Agile development environment and focuses on the design, development, training, deployment, and sustainment of machine learning models and data-driven solutions supporting complex operational systems.
The Machine Learning Engineer will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and system architects to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance machine learning capabilities that support mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning models and algorithms to support mission-critical applications.
• Translate operational and functional requirements into machine learning solutions and model architectures.
• Perform data analysis, feature engineering, model training, validation, and performance tuning.
• Integrate machine learning models into production software systems and pipelines.
• Collaborate with software engineers to support model deployment, monitoring, and sustainment.
• Conduct testing, evaluation, and documentation of model performance and results.
• Ensure machine learning solutions comply with security, performance, and risk management standards, including Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) processes.
• Support ongoing optimization, retraining, and enhancement of deployed models.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying machine learning or data-driven models in operational environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and common machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
• Experience integrating machine learning solutions into software systems or APIs.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Strong understanding of secure development and data handling practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
