Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in Chantilly, VA. This role operates within a secure Agile development environment and contributes to the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of software solutions supporting complex, high-availability systems.
The Software Engineer will work closely with senior engineers, system architects, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable applications that meet mission and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain software applications and services supporting enterprise systems.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed software designs and implementations.
• Develop and maintain application components, APIs, and integration services.
• Conduct unit and integration testing, support system-level testing, and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with team members in an Agile development environment to support iterative delivery.
• Ensure software complies with security, performance, and risk management standards, including Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) processes.
• Support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of applications in production environments.
• Contribute to technical documentation, including design artifacts and implementation guides.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience in software development for enterprise or mission-critical systems.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming and modern development frameworks.
• Experience developing and consuming APIs and integration services.
• Experience working in Agile development teams using tools such as JIRA.
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
