Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Lead Test Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in Chantilly, VA. This role operates within a secure Agile development environment and is responsible for leading end-to-end test planning, execution, and reporting for complex software and system-of-systems solutions.
The Lead Test Engineer will provide technical leadership across testing activities, ensure system quality and operational readiness, and serve as the primary authority for test strategy, test readiness, and quality assurance across the program lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the full test lifecycle, including test planning, design, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Develop, maintain, and execute system, integration, and acceptance test plans and procedures.
• Coordinate and lead test readiness reviews, dry runs, and formal test events.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, test execution, and results.
• Lead defect triage activities, root cause analysis, and resolution coordination with development and systems engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to test engineers and QA personnel.
• Collaborate with system architects, developers, and stakeholders to align test strategy with program and mission objectives.
• Produce formal test reports, metrics, and deployment recommendations supporting operational decisions.
• Ensure testing activities comply with Sponsor security, quality, and risk management standards.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience leading test activities for complex software systems or system-of-systems.
• Strong background in system testing, integration testing, and acceptance testing.
• Experience developing formal test documentation, including test plans, procedures, and final test reports.
• Experience supporting Agile development environments and coordinating testing within iterative release cycles.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Experience managing testing schedules, priorities, and resources in fast-paced, mission-focused environments.

Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

• Experience supporting classified or mission-critical programs.
• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, or similar).
• Experience in Agile, DevSecOps, or continuous integration environments.
