Business - Support
Tampa, FL (On/Off-Site)
Travel: Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel (planning events, partner coordination, mission support)
Work style: Primarily onsite in Tampa. Limited remote work may be possible when approved and mission allows.
You will help shape real-world strategy and plans that drive operations. This is a senior planner position supporting USCENTCOM, where you take guidance from leaders, turn it into clear planning products, and help teams coordinate across joint, interagency, and partner organizations. If you like solving messy problems, writing crisp products, and briefing decision makers, you will fit right in.
Tampa, FL (MacDill AFB)
What you’ll do
Support Joint planning efforts from early problem framing through COA development, wargaming, and decision support.
Draft and refine high-visibility planning products such as plans, orders, commander’s estimates, briefs, decision papers, and planning summaries.
Participate in planning events (OPTs/JPTs, working groups), keep the team aligned, and help move work from “discussion” to “approved direction.”
Coordinate across components, other Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, OSD, and interagency stakeholders to ensure plans are synchronized.
Provide input on strategy, campaign planning, policy alignment, and exercises to help USCENTCOM maintain readiness and momentum.
Translate complex guidance into clean, executable tasks and clear storylines leaders can brief.
What we’re looking for (must-have)
Active TS/SCI clearance
Advanced military planning education (examples: SAMS, SAASS, JAWS, MAWS, SAW, Senior Service College, or comparable)
Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred)
5+ years of operational planning experience
3+ years of planning experience at a Geographic or Functional Combatant Command HQ
Nice to have
Strong briefing presence and the ability to write fast without sacrificing clarity
Experience with campaign plans, OPLANs/CONPLANs, and joint doctrine (JP 5-0 comfort level)
Experience working with partner nations, coalition environments, or interagency coordination
