As Associate Software Engineer, you'll support the development, sustainment, and enhancement of software systems that enable the U.S. Air Force to plan, train, and prepare for complex operational scenarios. You will work alongside senior engineers and Government stakeholders to build reliable, scalable solutions while gaining hands on experience in performance optimization, data workflows, and simulation environments.

What you'll do:
  • Design, develop, enhance, and debug software components using Python, Java, or C++
  • Support bug fixes, minor feature enhancements, and CI or CD automation activities
  • Assist with maintaining and improving data ingestion pipelines and validating data against defined schemas
  • Troubleshoot data quality or ingestion issues and implement fixes under senior engineer guidance
  • Support performance and load testing activities, including documenting results and environment conditions
  • Implement small optimizations or improvements identified through testing or analysis
  • Collaborate with modeling, simulation, and user facing teams to ensure data accuracy and system reliability
  • Learn sustainment and operational practices while working closely with Government staff and experienced engineers
  • Contribute to documentation, technical notes, and integration activities

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of hands on software engineering experience
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience debugging, enhancing, and maintaining existing software in a team environment
  • Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and basic software design principles
  • Ability to work with structured data formats such as JSON or XML
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

SALARY RANGE: $82,000 - $92,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:
  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
