Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Database Engineer for a potential opportunity. In this position, the Engineer will:
- Write PL/SQL and Stored Procedures for handling large queries over many datasets.
- Create tables, indexes, constraints, triggers, etc., as needed to ensure performance and business process continuity.
- Apply patches, provision backups, and optimize performance across various datasets.
- Support the engineers in maintaining the health, security, and availability of critical Oracle database services.
- Apply DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) to the database layer. This involves locking down permissions, enabling auditing, and encrypting data at rest and in transit.
- Assist the team during maintenance windows to apply Oracle Critical Patch Updates.
- Create user accounts, grant specific roles/privileges based on approval tickets, and unlock accounts for government staff.
- Script infrastructure provisioning using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible to create reproducible database environments.
- Check RMAN logs daily to ensure backups completed successfully.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- 3+ years of deep Oracle Database experience (Versions 12c, 19c, 21c)
- Must hold or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification (or higher, like CASP+ or CISSP)
