Position Overview
Force99 seeks a BD Director who can drive mission-aligned expansion by securing subcontract work with major defense primes and strengthening our position across the Indo-Pacific and Europe. This is a growth operator role in a small business environment where the BD Director personally leads relationship development, capture activities, and partner engagement.
This role combines strategic thinking with tactical execution. You will own Force99’s growth strategy while directly managing the pursuit process from opportunity identification through contract award. Compensation includes a competitive base salary appropriate for senior BD leadership roles in small to medium-sized defense firms, along with bonuses tied to work share, strategic impact, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities
Growth Strategy and Pipeline
● Own Force99’s growth strategy across the company’s service offerings and geographic focus areas
● Identify, qualify, and shape strategic opportunities early in the acquisition lifecycle by building relationships with government stakeholders, primes and key industry partners
● Maintain a tightly curated pipeline focused on strategic fit, realistic pwin, and work-share opportunities
● Provide senior insight on market and competitive trends
● Understands the disruptive forces influencing defense contracting, such as emerging technologies, non-traditional market entrants, and policy shifts, and adjusts positioning and engagement strategies accordingly
Business Development and Capture
● Personally lead end-to-end capture for priority pursuits
● Build and sustain high-trust relationships across the defense community
● Negotiate teaming agreements in coordination with Force99 leadership
● Recommend pursuit decisions based on work share potential, staffing feasibility, risk, and alignment with Force99’s mission and geographic focus
● Execute in a hands-on manner suitable for a small to medium-sized business with minimal layers and limited support staff
Internal Communication
● Provide clear, senior-level updates on pipeline and BD/capture efforts
● Work closely with Operations and HR leadership to ensure growth initiatives align with delivery capacity, staffing realities, and organizational priorities
External Representation
● Represent Force99 in strategic engagements across Asia, Europe, and CONUS
● Strengthen and expand Force99’s network of mission-aligned partners
● Serve as a trusted ambassador of Force99’s high-competence, low-ego, mission-aligned culture
Required Qualifications
● Successful subcontract capture with established defense primes, complemented by the capacity to expand into emerging markets through commercially-driven, non-traditional capture approaches with non-traditional Primes
● Strong understanding of how small and mid-sized firms compete and deliver under prime subcontract structures
● Existing trusted relationships across the defense contracting ecosystem
● Familiarity with overseas contracting constraints including personnel deployment, clearance requirements, and host-nation considerations
● Fluency with DoD acquisition processes
● Clear, strategic communicator with the ability to articulate value at the executive level, complemented by strong written communication skills suited for senior stakeholders and complex pursuits
● Ability to operate with executive presence and influence in partner-facing engagements
● Highly self-directed, fast-moving, motivated and able to manage multiple pursuits while maintaining full visibility to leadership
