The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of NASA's ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services Programs.

Responsibilities:

Perform non-routine and complex inspection assignments involving Flight hardware, GSE and the manufacturing of flight and GSE hardware.

-Inspects major units, devices, or equipment; validates work performed on installations, tests or experiments.

-Assists in inspection tests to evaluate equipment performance. -Demonstrates extensive proficiency within expertise and ability to mentor less experienced technicians and engineers

. -Under direction of the engineering staff, applies engineering principles and theories in inspecting, testing, and modifying equipment both flight and GSE.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise, and required certifications and 18 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.

- Must be able to support all shifts, weekends and overtime. Must be able to work at heights, climb stairs and ladders and be able to work in confined space.

Essential Functions Physical Requirements

- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.

- Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.

- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.

- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

– Must be able to work in tight confined space areas. Work Environment - All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

- Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

Equipment and Machines

- Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging, converter dollies, cargo lift trailers, and tractor/trailers.

- Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.

- Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

Attendance

- Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week. - Must be dependable and punctual.

- Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule Other Essential Functions

- If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

- Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.

- Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.

- Government security clearance may be required in the future.

- Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

- Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

- Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver's license.

- Must pass a federal background investigation.

- Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
