- You will schedule the work on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. You will determine work priority for present and future availability of equipment to perform the scheduled work.
- You will plan, analyze, design and layout machining jigs and fixtures for the manufacture and assembly of propulsor assemblies.
- You will apply shop mathematics and geometric and trigonometric formulas to calculate precise dimensions, tolerances, angles, tapers.
- You will attend meetings with management and technical codes to discuss Information regarding progress and problems on existing work projects and planned new work.
- You will enforce safety regulations and verify the training qualifications of their workers.
- You will Inspect work In progress and completed work to insure that quality standards are maintained.
- You will counsel subordinates in merit promotion opportunities and training available for self-development.
- You will maintain and certify timekeeping records for their subordinates.
- You will authorize the use of leave within their unit based on regulations and workload.

- Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of the theories, principals, practices, and techniques of the toolmaker and machinist trades as related to propeller and casting manufacturing; directing the manufacturing of naval ship castings; directing the manufacturing and design of fixtures, gages, and special tools required to manufacture and inspect propulsors and castings for naval vessels.
- Ability to direct the work of subordinates at various job site by assigning work, establishing procedures to be followed, determining job priorities, enforcing safety regulation, and inspecting work in progress and completed work to insure that quality standards are maintained.
