MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Chief Enterprise Architect & Modernization Lead (CEAMIL) to join our team in Herndon, VA.

This is a hybrid position. This role will serve as the primary technical authority responsible for the strategic design, engineering, and modernization of our government clients IT environment. This senior leadership role combines oversight of engineering, infrastructure architecture, and network operations to deliver a robust, scalable, and redundant IT ecosystem.

The CEAMIL working in coordination with various stakeholders will implement a "modernization factory" for the program, driving the transition from legacy on-premises infrastructure to hybrid and cloud-native environments (IaaS/PaaS). This individual is responsible for clearing technical debt and designing "shared nothing" redundancy architectures to ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities across domestic data centers and global consular posts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee all engineering, infrastructure and network projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with objectives and technical requirements creating and sustaining operational hardware and software platforms.
  • Oversee the daily operations of IT Infrastructure including design and architect physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure solutions, including server, storage, and software-defined infrastructure. Lead the transition to cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS) and containerized deployment strategies.
  • Ensure the infrastructure meets defined service levels and complies with government regulations and policies. Establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure service delivery performance
  • Develop and manage the enterprise redundancy and disaster recovery plan ensuring "shared nothing" implementation designs that allow standby systems to operate independently in the event of hardware or network failures. Design active/active and active/passive failover operations to minimize human intervention during recovery.
  • Direct the system-level roadmap, design and configuration of global network systems (LAN/WAN), ensuring interoperability with legacy systems and compliance with Government security standards. Oversee network optimization and standardization efforts across multiple facilities.
  • Implement DevSecOps methodologies and automated provisioning models to reduce configuration drift and enable rapid deployment of standardized operating environments.
  • Provide technical expertise and documentation for review by CST and DT govt Engineers and Computer Scientists to ensure new systems comply with the enterprise architecture. Manage and develop engineering and implementation teams, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to staff across varying skill levels.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience managing and leading enterprise engineering and operations staff
  • Demonstrated experience managing the implementation of technical and process changes in a highly complex infrastructure environment, including working collaboratively with architects, development leads, and operations personnel
  • Proven experience managing the transition of systems and applications into a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure technologies, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and database platforms
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated experience prioritizing, planning, and successfully delivering multiple projects in parallel within a production environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications:
    • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) Certification.
    • ITIL® Intermediate Level Certification or higher
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).
    • Cloud Certifications (e.g., Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect, Certified Cloud Security Professional).
    • Linux+ or CompTIA or CompTIA Server+
  • Modernization Skills: Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
  • Agile Frameworks: Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and DevSecOps/CI/CD methodologies.
  • Optimization: Experience with technology lifecycle management and reducing operational costs through innovative architecture.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
