Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of program cloud environments
- Proactively monitor AWS resources and services to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and strong security across all deployed environments
- Support daily operations by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of cloud infrastructure and related systems
- Implement and follow established IT and security policies, including change management and compliance procedures, to maintain system integrity and reliability
- Ensure data integrity and protection through proper configuration, access control, and backup/recovery practices
- Collaborate with program leads to prioritize cloud projects, service requests, and configuration changes
- Accurately document tasks, incidents, and resolutions in Jira (or similar tools), providing clear updates on progress, workflow status, and timelines
- Assist with the design, deployment, and configuration of new cloud systems, applications, and automation processes
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, performance, and efficiency
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for all assigned systems, configurations, and operational procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve AWS environment performance, network, and security issues
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of IT systems administration experience supporting Windows and Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail (diagnose, isolate, and resolve issues across infrastructure and services)
- Self-starter with strong initiative, able to work independently with minimal direction and collaborate effectively with technical teams in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with scripting and automation using tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python)
- Solid understanding of IT security controls and best practices (e.g., least privilege, secure configuration, patching, auditing)
- Experience supporting and administering identity and access solutions, such as Active Directory, AWS IAM, and AWS SSO / IAM Identity Center
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (clear technical documentation and stakeholder communication)
- Active CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent meeting/exceeding DoD 8570) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Active Top Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience administering and optimizing AWS services across compute, storage, networking, and security
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateways, NAT Gateways, load balancers, VPNs, and firewalls
- Proficiency in AWS security best practices, including IAM role design, policy management, SSO integration, and enforcing least-privilege using STS and role-based access controls
- Experience implementing and maintaining Amazon EKS clusters, including performance tuning and resource allocation for resilient, secure container operations
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools in AWS environments (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus)
- Working knowledge of infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform
- Experience with patching and OS lifecycle management in AWS, including use of AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for patching/automation
- Understanding of information systems security best practices and tools such as Nessus, SCAP, and applying STIGs
- Knowledge of DoD security requirements and operating within classified or regulated environments
- Active AWS certification (e.g., AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate / CloudOps, or Solutions Architect - Associate)
- Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Willingness to travel if required (not typical)
