Duties
Help
  • Assist in governing a broad range of quality-of-life programs and services addressing the needs and challenges of service members and their families.
  • Develop policies, and strategies supporting implementation and administration of the budget.
  • Track, analyze, and advise leaders on resource execution.
  • Apply policies, procedures and legislation to develop program goals, objectives, and performance measures in support of service members and their families.
  • Present and defend proposed and existing quality-of-life program and budget efforts.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with Comptroller and other OSD/DoD resource stakeholders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families
  • Perform full range of budget execution and funds control functions in alignment with the DoD FMR and other established regulations and policies.
  • Monitor execution and perform Quarterly Dormant Account Review.
  • Reconcile Un-Liquidated Obligations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes evaluating programs, administrating a budget such as: formulation, presentation, and execution procedures, developing policies or strategies to implement and/or administer a budget, tracking and/or monitoring budget execution, and recommending program and/or budget changes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
