The Knowledge Management Technical Writer / Requirements Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining comprehensive technical and administrative documentation to support systems development programs and IT processes. Additionally, this person will be responsible for maintaining the system requirements documentation and mapping to test cases and User Stories. As a Technical Writer, this role creates and edits user manuals, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and system guides while ensuring consistency through standardized templates and adherence to organizational branding standards.
The Technical Writer collaborates closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across various disciplines to gather information, validate content, and document complex IT processes and system workflows in clear, accessible language. This position utilizes desktop publishing tools to create professional, user-friendly documents enhanced with basic graphics, diagrams, and visual aids that effectively communicate complex technical concepts. Key responsibilities include maintaining organized documentation repositories in shared platforms such as SharePoint, implementing proper version control and document lifecycle management, and conducting thorough editorial reviews to ensure grammar, content accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards. The Technical Writer works with Quality Assurance teams to meet compliance requirements and continuously improve documentation processes. This role manages multiple documentation projects simultaneously, tracking progress and deliverables while ensuring timely completion and quality delivery. The Technical Writer also prepares and presents documentation to stakeholders and leadership, supporting review processes and incorporating feedback to enhance content quality and effectiveness.
