Overview
The SCS Security Health team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help secure Microsoft's clouds through innovative, cloud-native security solutions. We operate internal security services that power scanning, monitoring, alerting, and detection at scale, with a strong focus on sovereign cloud environments. In this role, you'll solve complex security and systems challenges in a fast-paced, agile setting. You'll work closely with Azure Security engineering teams, product managers, and internal stakeholders to deliver resilient solutions. Required/minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient software and infrastructure for Azure security services.
- Maintain 24x7 service health through periodic on-call rotations, rapid incident response, and automation to prevent recurrence.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using logs, telemetry, and advanced debugging tools; lead root cause analysis and postmortems.
- Implement instrumentation and dashboards to monitor performance and availability; apply data-driven insights to improve reliability.
- Create standardized, repeatable solutions and integrate automation to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems and deliver innovative solutions.
- Mentor and guide engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of learning and operational excellence.

- Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
- Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
- Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. - Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Software Engineers, Program Managers, and Data Scientists.
