The Mission:

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for Senior Network Tool Operations Engineer who will work with our customer’s, project managers, internal task or functional staff, and support personnel to execute the Program Mission within Digital Modernization and the Defense and Intel business area.

The job duties are as follows:
  • Design, implement, and customize network monitoring views, dashboards, reports, and alerts across a multi-vendor tool environment, to improve network visibility, performance monitoring, and fault analysis.
  • Use business and network requirements to design and implement effective front-end configurations of multi-vendor tools, ensuring they provide relevant, actionable insights to network administrators and operations teams.
  • Automate routine network configuration tasks and reporting processes using built-in tool capabilities or scripting (e.g., Python), reducing manual effort and potential for human error.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate data sources, define monitoring parameters, and refine alert configurations to meet operational needs.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of all front-end configurations, customization processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the effective use of the network management tools' front-end features and dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance, data integrity, and configuration discrepancies, coordinating with vendors when necessary.


Standard Requirements:

  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI CI Poly
  • Candidate must have 12 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a BS degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Proficiency in operation and tuning of enterprise-grade network management and monitoring software from various vendors.
  • Strong experience with network management (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, etc.) and how they translate to front-end reporting and configuration.
  • Familiarity with configuration management processes, tools, and best practices within an IT infrastructure environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail in configuration and data presentation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into clear, concise information for various stakeholders.
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant network certifications (Ex. CCNA, CCNP) or specific vendor tool certifications.
  • Develop and enforce network configuration policies to ensure compliance with internal security standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, PCI).
  • Stay informed on the latest networking technologies and NMS features, recommending configuration options and improvements for new equipment and software.

Pay Range: Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
