Description:Role Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Aide to support the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Production Operations team in Huntsville, Alabama .
In this hands-on role, you will provide technical and assembly support to Manufacturing Engineers, contributing directly to the build, test, and improvement of production hardware. This position is ideal for early-career technical professionals who enjoy working with their hands, solving practical problems, and learning within a highly collaborative manufacturing environment.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
• Perform electrical cable and wire harness fabrication for ground support hardware
• Execute electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assembly tasks
• Construct, troubleshoot, test, calibrate, and maintain equipment, components, and systems
• Build assemblies with limited work instructions, using engineering judgment and best practices
• Interpret engineering drawings and assist with initial layouts
• Support repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly operations
• Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test prototype or experimental assemblies under simulated conditions
• Assist Manufacturing Engineering with:
o Technical reviews of drawings, parts lists, and work instructions
o Change management, planning reviews, and BOM maintenance (VE-CAMS)
• Provide feedback to Design Engineers to improve manufacturability and assembly processes
• Support test equipment builds, field returns, and prototype hardware
• Assist with Assembly & Integration CONOPS and integration operations
• Maintain lab spaces, manage tools and floor inventory, and support production schedules
• Participate in JIRA Scrum planning and execution activities
Work Environment
• On-site role supporting production operations in Huntsville, AL
• Hands-on manufacturing, lab, and assembly settings
• Collaborative team environment with engineers, technicians, and production staff
• Work may involve standing, manual assembly, use of tools, and precision tasks

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all requirements below to be considered.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 year of related technical, manufacturing, or hands-on assembly experience
• Basic understanding of STEM principles and the ability to interpret and communicate technical information
• Hands-on experience with electrical cable/wire harness fabrication and basic mechanical assembly
• Experience performing electrical or mechanical installation and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with JIRA for task execution or workflow tracking
• Experience documenting and communicating technical issues (e.g., QNotes) to Manufacturing or Quality Engineers to support corrective actions
• Proficiency with computer technology, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Skills:
These skills strengthen a candidate's application but are not required.
• IPC certifications or prior experience with IPC-A-610 / J-STD soldering and IPC-A-620 cable harness fabrication
• Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes or DITMCO tools
• Willingness and ability to support occasional travel to remote sites
• Experience maintaining an organized workspace, including tool and material inventory management
