Duties
Help
  • Record, report, and file medical information in order to ensure medical data is readily available for the total patient treatment process of for HIV and Infectious Diseases Clinic patients.
  • Act as the HIV Evaluation and Treatment Unit (HETU) Coordinator in advising leadership on readiness metrics as the Liaison within the department to ensure compliance with reporting by performing paramedical services.
  • Responsible for optimizing the readiness for active-duty service members living with infectious diseases who are established within the region.
  • Check-in patients, take full vital signs, administer vaccines, while performing phlebotomy and/or specimen collection to patients including patients living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
  • Assist the health care team in performing other preventive medicine, clinical, or clerical duties as designated by the clinic/business manager and other supervising staff.
  • Track and book laboratory and clinic follow-up appointments, while ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of patient demographics, partner notification status, medical history, treatment plans, and other relevant clinical information.
  • Participates in patient education.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Must obtain and maintain certification(s) deemed required by local, state, and national public health authorities, and those determined to be essential by the ID Division Head within six (6) months of employment.

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level which includes: 1) reporting medical data for patient treatment; 2) taking vital signs of patients; 3) administering a variety of vaccines; and 4) maintaining a confidential computerized patient registry patients with infectious disease.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
