Position Summary
A Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for an Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating large-scale program execution, managing risks, resolving impediments, and driving continuous improvement to deliver value aligned with business goals, acting like a 'Scrum Master for Scrum Masters' to ensure teams run smoothly and deliver features.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but re not limited to, the following:
• Facilitate scaled agile processes including Backlog administration, Scrum of Scrums, Program Increment Planning and
Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, and Daily Standups
• Facilitating sprint planning meetings, working with the Product Owner to refine the backlog, and ensuring the team
commits to realistic sprint goals.
• Assist in development and maintenance of reports including PI Planning Roadmap, project progress, and resource
allocation.
• Produce and explain Agile program metrics
• Mentor and coach team members in Agile practices
• Facilitate scaled agile processes for engineering and sustainment teams
• Use System and Solution Architect/Engineering life cycle experience to ensure program alignment and success• Be comfortable interacting with various levels of internal and external customers.
• Support teams to improve their performance and velocity.
• Be responsible for the successful execution of assigned projects specifically meeting cost and schedule targets.
• Conduct project planning utilizing Microsoft Teams, Planner, Project, Jira and/or Gitlab or other MDA-approved tools
• Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal teaming soft skills.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
• May be reduced with completion of advanced education
• Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience
• Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
• Must have 2, or more, years of Project Management experience.
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Be SAFe Certified
• Be PMI-ACP or DASSM Certified
• Have experience managing high dollar-value projects ranging in complexity
• Have experience managing geographically separated project teams
• Have experience managing projects in traditional waterfall and/or agile methodologies
• Have Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Domain knowledge
