Northrop Grumman's Multi-Domain Operations Division - through its Communications and Networking Business Unit (C&N BU) - is seeking an OU Director to lead the SATCOM Operating Unit (OU) in Redondo Beach, CA. The OU Director will be responsible for leading a broad portfolio of commercial and DoD programs across multiple sites from California to Virginia. The candidate will be accountable for the OU's strategy, customer engagement, and profitable growth. In addition, the OU Director will be responsible for delivery of program performance and customer satisfaction. The OU Director will also lead and drive collaborative engagements with key stakeholders across Northrop Grumman's sectors and divisions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop the consolidated OU long-range strategic plan. Develop growth opportunities and conduct business case analysis. Drive new business activities, increasing scope and content on existing programs, and identifying new opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Accountable for the programmatic execution, serving as Program Review Authority for programs across the portfolio. Also responsible for establishing and driving OU Ops Reviews and oversight of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRS) process.
  • Provide direct leadership and mentoring to program managers and proactively strengthen the function through the performance management process, including individual and group goal setting, coaching and development. Mentor talent to assume increased responsibilities and deploy resources to meet customer demands.
  • Maintain and distribute current and actionable market-customer-pursuit intelligence that supports the OU execution and growth objectives. Support technology roadmap development by providing voice-of-customer insight.
  • Evaluate and implement program best practices. Implement programs daily management standards, standard business systems and tools, and align improvement focus with operations and engineering teams.
  • Manage program schedule and budgets, oversee and ensure rigorous earned value execution.
  • Manage and monitor the working of the various functional organizations supporting the program
  • Provide program status briefings to BU and Division management and serve as the primary focal for Program status to our customer.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and implement optimal solutions.
  • Partner with business development and business management to optimize investments to deliver profitable growth.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in Program Management in a manufacturing , engineering, operations or program environment
  • Proven track record of developing growth strategy and developing customer relationships, pursuit capture, and shaping requirements
  • Proven ability to achieve results, exceptional leadership skills, effective and timely decision-making, negotiation skills, and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience with implementation and execution of process standards focused on programs, business development, and risk management identification and mitigation
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrated success creating and maintaining strong executive level relationships with suppliers, customers, government representatives, primes and internal peers
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
  • U.S. Citizenship is required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience and deep domain knowledge in Commercial and DOD SATCOM systems.
  • Degree(s) in STEM discipline(s) and/or Business Administration
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Familiarity with Long Range Planning development in conjunction with customer requirements
  • Experience leading proposal efforts to include large value through corporate level gating processes


Primary Level Salary Range: $266,300.00 - $399,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
