Position Summary:
The Cybersecurity SME/Risk Analyst will provide expert analysis and guidance on cybersecurity risks impacting the Federal Information Review System (FIRS) mission. This role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks, advising attorneys on technical issues, and ensuring secure handling of classified information. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills to support legal and operational decision-making.

- Identify and describe cybersecurity risks in all FIRS matters, distinguishing between common, unique, novel, or complex risks.
- Analyze and assess cybersecurity risks across FIRS cases and initiatives.
- Advise attorneys on cybersecurity-related questions, including risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and recommend strategies for managing cybersecurity risks associated with FIRS operations.
- Document and communicate analysis through clear written reports and oral briefings.
- Support FIRS attorneys in evaluating, mitigating, and communicating cybersecurity issues.
- Monitor classified information systems for intelligence products relevant to active cases; identify new or unique information.
- Ensure classified intelligence data is captured in case management systems, collaboration tools, and dashboards, and disseminated appropriately.
- Track and report on key cybersecurity topics, trends, and their impact on the FIRS mission.
- Identify external resources and experts to provide additional insights on cybersecurity matters.
- Assist in developing and executing research projects, long-term initiatives, and data-driven analyses to enhance FIRS mission execution.
- Create educational and communication materials for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Position Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field.
- Advanced degree in a technical field related to DOJ technological interests preferred.
- May substitute 2 years of additional law enforcement or DOJ technical experience for an advanced degree.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in information technology or cybersecurity operations.
- Recognized certifications (e.g., CISSP) may substitute for 2-5 years of experience, depending on relevance.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Proven ability to conduct independent technical research and analysis in DOJ-related areas.
- Strong analytic writing and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with classified systems and secure data handling practices.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

- Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
