What you'll do
Support multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generator products . Your responsibilities will include: becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, supporting efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, supporting qualification efforts for component changes, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, lab support and management, setting up and maintaining test and development hardware, and board checkout.
The day-to-day
• Independently troubleshoot complex digital PWAs (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers) to component level root cause and coordinate/preform repairs and retests
• Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problems
• Integrate and debug designs in the laboratory
• Work closely with engineers to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problems
• Perform Design verification testing to requirements compliance
• Perform Environmental testing on components and systems
• Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
• Assembly, design, and operate custom test fixtures/equipment
• Write and update Test procedures
• Use Visio and similar tools to document system testing, re-work and debug instructions
• Knowledge and use of scripting languages, e.g. PERL, PYTHON a plus
• Able to be the main point of contract for multiple products for support issues
What you'll need
• 10 - 15+ years of hardware troubleshooting or sustaining experience
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required
• Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have a history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
• Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
• Extensive familiarity with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
• Extensive familiarity with production related processes and common failure modes
• High aptitude for learning new things
• Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
• Ability to travel up to 10%
• This is an onsite role based in Carlsbad, CA
What will help you on the job
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Familiarity with TCL, Perl, Python or another scripting language
• Proven experience in debugging, diagnosing, and solving embedded designs issues
• High aptitude for learning
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
Salary range
$40.87 - $64.42 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $50.48 - $75.96/ hourly
