About the Team:
As part of the central reliability team, the reliability engineering role may include a wide variety of reliability engineering tasks and activities for spacecraft and missiles. The central group supports multiple programs including Orion, GPS, and other critical national programs. We service the entire lifecycle from concept through sustainment.
About the Role:
As a Reliability Engineer, you will spend much of your time working in a team environment, obtaining inputs from other engineers, performing analyses, and creating presentations / reports. There may be some travel. You will interact with engineers, suppliers, quality, production operations, program managers, customers, and customer consultants. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, self-driven, and can multitask as needed.
Responsibilities will include:
• Work within the Special Disciplines team and may lead a small Reliability team or project
• Develop, coordinate and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs.
• Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
• Compile and evaluate performance reports and process control statistics; investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes
• Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards
• Evaluate preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives
• Develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks
• Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability
• Determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data

Basic Qualifications:
• Engineering analysis in Aerospace
• Experience with Reliability principles, practices, and understanding of root cause analysis
• Knowledge and experience with probability, statistical concepts, and mathematical modelling
• Experience with subsystems to system level integration
• US Citizenship Required with the willingness to obtain/maintain a Top Secret or higher security clearance - no clearance required to start
Desired Skills:
• Spacecraft/Missile experience
• Parts Engineering expertise and knowledge of MIL-PRF screening requirements
• Systems engineering and production
• Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering
• Requirements development, system design, problem analysis and resolution, and integration and test
• Analytical thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems, and strict attention to detail; effective analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high accuracy within requested timelines
• Experience in at least six (6) of the following: Reliability Program Plans; Reliability Predictions and Analysis; Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA); Availability; Maintainability Analysis and Predictions; Fault Tree Analysish; Probability Risk Assessment (PRA); Reliability HDBKS and Standards; Application of probability and statistics to support decisions regarding sample size, burn-in life testing and failure analysis investigations
• Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Active or Current Top Secret or higher clearance

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
