Responsibilities

What you get to do every day:

  • Design and develop intuitive, responsive user interfaces for complex government applications supporting mission-critical workflows in secure environments.
  • Create engaging user experiences that balance usability, accessibility, and visual design while meeting stringent security requirements.
  • Develop modern web applications using contemporary JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or Svelte with focus on performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs, relational databases, and real-time data streams from PostgreSQL-based systems.
  • Implement responsive designs that work seamlessly across different devices, browsers, and screen sizes.
  • Build interactive data visualization and geospatial visualization components using mapping libraries and geospatial data processing tools.
  • Develop and maintain reusable component libraries and design systems to ensure consistency across applications.
  • Optimize front-end performance including load times, rendering efficiency, and resource utilization , particularly for data-intensive applications.
  • Implement authentication flows and role-based UI controls to support secure application access.
  • Participate in user research, usability testing, and iterative design processes to continuously improve user experience.
  • Write automated tests for UI components and user workflows to ensure quality and prevent regressions .
  • Work within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver features incrementally and respond to changing requirements.


Qualifications

Clearance Required: Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly **We are not able to upgrade or sponsor clearances**

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 5+ years of professional front-end development experience creating production web applications


Required Skills:


  • Solid proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Strong hands-on experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Vue, Angular, or Svelte)
  • Demonstrated ability to create responsive designs that work across browsers and devices
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles, accessibility standards, and usability best practices
  • Experience with state management solutions (Redux, Vuex , Pinia , etc.) for complex applications
  • Proficiency with modern CSS frameworks and methodologies (Tailwind, Bootstrap, CSS modules, etc.)
  • Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous data flows
  • Experience with front-end build tools and bundlers (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and GitLab or similar CI/CD platforms
  • Experience writing automated tests for UI components using testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest , Cypress, etc.)
  • Strong visual design sense with attention to detail and pixel-perfect implementation
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills for browser-based applications
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders
  • Experience with component libraries (Material-UI, Ant Design, etc.)


Preferred Skills:


  • Understanding of SQL and ability to work with data from relational databases and data warehouses to create effective visualizations
  • Solid understanding of authentication and authorization in web applications
  • Knowledge of TypeScript for type-safe front-end development
  • Basic Python knowledge for understanding backend integration and data processing logic
  • Understanding of performance optimization techniques for data-heavy applications and large dataset visualization
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services (API Gateway, S3, etc.)
  • Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and techniques
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, particularly SAFe
  • Background working in secure government environments

What is ideal?

  • Experience with geospatial visualization libraries (Leaflet, OpenLayers , Mapbox GL, Cesium) and geospatial data processing tools like GDAL, geopandas , or PostGIS
  • Experience building data-intensive dashboards and visualization interfaces connected to PostgreSQL databases or data warehouses (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Timescale DB)
  • Familiarity with real-time data visualization using WebSockets or streaming data
  • Understanding of high-performance computing visualization or distributed data visualization
  • Intelligence Community Experience preferred
