Job Summary
B&A is looking for a System Administrator to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. The Systems Administrator provides operational and technical support for enterprise IT systems and network environments, ensuring availability, performance, and security of server, client, and cloud-based resources. This role supports network infrastructure, system administration, and security best practices while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable cybersecurity standards.
This role requires on-site work.

Job Summary
B&A is looking for a System Administrator to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. The Systems Administrator provides operational and technical support for enterprise IT systems and network environments, ensuring availability, performance, and security of server, client, and cloud-based resources. This role supports network infrastructure, system administration, and security best practices while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable cybersecurity standards.
This role requires on-site work.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain server and client operating systems in enterprise environments
- Monitor system and network performance and implement tuning and optimization measures
- Support LAN/WAN infrastructure, network connectivity, and remote access services
- Configure and maintain network services such as DNS, DHCP, and directory services
- Implement and maintain virtualization platforms and manage virtual machines
- Apply system, network, and operating system hardening techniques
- Support security controls including firewalls, VPNs, and access control mechanisms
- Perform routine system maintenance, backups, and recovery activities
- Diagnose and resolve system, network, and performance issues using standard tools
- Support cloud-based systems and assist with workload migrations as required
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards and organizational security policies
Education and Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in system administration or system management
- Experience supporting enterprise networks and infrastructure environments
- Experience administering server and client operating systems
- Experience supporting secure IT environments
Required Skills
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts, protocols, and traffic flow (TCP/IP, OSI)
- Experience with LAN/WAN architecture, bandwidth management, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with network services and protocols (DNS, DHCP, directory services)
- Experience using common network and diagnostic tools (ping, traceroute, nslookup)
- Knowledge of file system implementations (NTFS, FAT, EXT)
- Experience with virtualization technologies and virtual machine management
- Understanding of IT security principles, network security architecture, and defense-in-depth
- Knowledge of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques
- Experience implementing system and operating system hardening practices
- Familiarity with data protection requirements for PII, PCI, and PHI
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting cloud computing service and deployment models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS; public, private, hybrid)
- Familiarity with cloud security strategies and architectures
- Experience migrating workloads between on-premises and cloud environments
- Knowledge of VPN technologies and secure remote access solutions
- Familiarity with wireless and transmission technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, IR)
- Experience with enterprise IT architectures and large-scale environments
- Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills across systems and networks
Security Clearance
- Active Secret clearance
Required Certification
- IAT Level II certification that includes one of the following: Security +, CCNA, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP
