i3 has an internship opportunity supporting the Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort, available for a student seeking a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field. The best candidates for this position possess a strong interest in cybersecurity principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a desire to learn about security technologies. The Cybersecurity Intern will receive mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals while assisting with real-world security challenges.
This position is expected to last the duration of Summer 2026. Flexibility is available to accommodate the student's class schedule.

Responsibilities
- Provide support for cybersecurity initiatives by assisting in the monitoring, detection, and response to security incidents. This includes providing customer service and technical support to i3 Team Members related to security awareness and best practices.
- Assist in identifying and analyzing potential security vulnerabilities within supported systems and networks, following industry best practices and security standards.
- Assist in responding to security alerts, conducting preliminary investigations, and escalating incidents as necessary.
- Follow up with users and internal stakeholders on security-related requests, updates, and resolutions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Appropriately record events, incidents, and their resolution using ticketing systems.
- Gain hands-on experience supporting ongoing security projects, such as vulnerability scanning, code analysis, security awareness training, and incident response exercises.
- Deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment by managing time and effort across multiple projects.
- Perform other cybersecurity-related duties as assigned, which may include assisting with security audits, compliance efforts, and risk assessments.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Must currently be enrolled at an accredited college/university in an undergraduate or graduate level degree program (Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, IT, or related field of study required) at the time of the internship (Summer 2026) or semester immediately following (Fall 2026).
- Basic computer knowledge/experience.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of Windows Operating System.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully.

- Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
