Vistra is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to support service member wellbeing and provide project and communications support to our team working with the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO).
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategize, analyze, develop, and execute written/visual communication content related to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention
- Design creative messaging products and campaigns to promote suicide prevention efforts, support workforce development, and increase audience/user adoption of tools/resources
- Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity
Requirements
- Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related technical field and 7+ years of directly related experience
- 10+ years total work experience
- 7+ years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or marketing
- Expertise in designing campaign plans in public health or a related topic
- Experience with leading strategic communications plans from a strategy lens, providing a fresh interpretation of how to communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Excels at developing and writing and developing communications products such as key messaging, slick sheets, and other relevant products to promote suicide prevention
- Experience designing and developing content for creative media campaigns and "storytelling" products
- Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of internal and external stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations
- Previous or active Public Trust or security clearance is required.
- Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly on behalf of a large organization
- Works independently with some guidance; work collaboratively, engaging SMEs as needed
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a military environment or with military personnel
- Experience in a DoD or government public affairs shop creating communication materials for military audiences
- Experience with messaging efforts around organizational transformation, workforce development/training, or public health/science communication
- Experience tracking, measuring, and analyzing effectiveness of communication efforts
- Ability to clearly and accurately convey messages in a fast-paced environment across stakeholders and workstreams
- Possession of exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail for high-visibility deliverables
- Additional experience in social media planning, event coordination, and stakeholder outreach communications preferred
