Duties

As a BUDGET ANALYST at the GS-0560-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Performs budget formulation involving preparation of detailed analyses of annual and/or multi-year budget estimates for assigned organizations/programs into a consolidated budget request.
  • Performs budget execution and administration involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of a budget with different sources and types of funding.
  • Provides assistance and guidance on budgeting and related information.
  • Conducts analyses, review and special studies of budget and/or related information.
  • Performs specialized individual economic analyses and impact studies in support of a variety of budget programs.

  • Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation. Employee must obtain/maintain a Non-Critical Sensitive (Secret) security clearance.

  • Unusual Duty Hours: May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required, which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.

  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDDAA) 2012, Public law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Presenting, developing, justifying, executing, and monitoring budgets and financial plans to properly fund and meet resource requirements.
  • Providing financial analysis of budget-related issues, to include budget strategies and techniques to meet changing priorities and resource allocations.
  • Applying results of financial/budget related analysis to solve problems and make recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
